SOUTHERN LOSS ASSOCIATION CODE OF BUSINESS CONDUCT AND ETHICS

Introduction

This Code of Business Conduct and Ethics describes the basic principles of conduct that we share as vendors, sponsors, and members of The Southern Loss Association (collectively, the “SLA”). This Code also applies to our directors and should be provided to and followed by our Membership. Violation of this Code may result in disciplinary action, such as a warning to loss of membership and/or exclusion to attendance of association events.

This Code is intended to provide a broad overview of basic ethical principles that guide our conduct. In some circumstances, we maintain more specific policies on the topics referred to in this Code. Should you have any questions regarding these policies, please contact a Board Member.

Compliance with Laws, Rules, and Regulations

We strive to conduct our business in conformity with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations of the places where we do business. If a law, rule, or regulation is unclear, or conflicts with a provision of this Code, you should seek advice from Board Member, but always seek to act in accordance with the ethical standards described in this Code.

Competition and Fair Dealing

We strive to conduct our business in conformity with the spirit and letter of the Property Claims Industry and under the highest ethical standards. We do not engage in unethical or illegal business practices such as stealing proprietary information, possessing trade secret information that was obtained without the owner’s consent, or inducing disclosure of this type of information by past or present members of the SLA.

When attending an SLA event, (not as the sponsor) Swag, Gifts, or anything with the non-sponsoring company’s logo, should not be distributed, with the exception of business cards.

Discrimination and Harassment

The diversity of our membership is a tremendous asset. We provide equal opportunity in all aspects of membership and will not tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind. Derogatory comments based on racial or ethnic characteristics, religion, sexual orientation, and/or unwelcome sexual advances and similar behavior are prohibited.

Health and Safety

We strive to provide a safe and healthful environment at all SLA events. We ensure this by following safety and health rules and practices and promptly reporting accidents, injuries and unsafe equipment, practices, or conditions to a Board Member. We do not permit violence or threatening behavior at SLA events, including the Golf Outing and non-SLA gatherings post Golf and awards dinner. We do not tolerate the use of illegal drugs at any SLA event.

Reporting Illegal or Unethical Behavior

In order to encourage good faith reports of illegal or unethical behavior (including violations of this Code), we keep all reports confidential and do not allow retaliation for reports of misconduct by others. It is also our duty to cooperate in internal investigations of alleged misconduct.

We must all work to ensure prompt and consistent action against unethical or illegal behavior. To report an illegal or unethical behavior, please call or email a board member.

Conclusion

The SLA’s good name and reputation depend, to a very large extent, upon you taking personal responsibility for maintaining and adhering to the policies and guidelines set forth in this Code. Your business conduct on behalf of your Company must be guided by the policies and guidelines set forth in this Code.
