Southern Loss Association News
President’s Message
This past weekend, I was sitting at a table with friends after our trip to the Zombie Farm outside Athens, GA, when someone said, “Can you believe Christmas is only eight weekends away?” Of course, I didn’t believe it at first—but out came the calendar, and sure enough, it’s true! I’ll just leave that right there.
If you missed the 2025 Fall Golf and Cornhole Outing, you missed an impressive one! The weather couldn’t have been better—cool mornings, warm afternoons, and not a hint of the cold yet to come. Our hole sponsors went above and beyond to make sure every player was taken care of, and I want to extend a huge thank you to Susan Freeman and everyone who helped make the event run so smoothly.
Looking ahead, we have a HomeLink presentation this month on Fair Rental Value (FRV)—a timely and valuable topic as we move into the winter months, when water and fire losses often leave families needing temporary housing. This sponsor will be a great resource in helping us find quality housing options for our insureds.
In closing, I want to personally thank everyone who contributed to the Brayden Philyaw Memorial Fund. The organization was deeply touched by the generosity of our members, and I look forward to seeing the funds put to great use in the coming weeks as they host a youth basketball camp for local kids.
Finally, don’t forget to join us at Cabernet Steakhouse on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. for the SLA Luncheon. I look forward to seeing everyone there!
Sincerely,
Adrian Medley
President
